Transform team building

When i arrived for my first day of the foundation course; I met some old friends from sixth form who had also decided to do the course and met some new students. I noticed a pile of materials in the middle on the room with a square box made of tape around them, i though it was something for later so I forgot about it for the time being. Around 10:00am an alarm went off in the room, then our tutors left the room, we all walked up to the pile of materials in the middle of the room, inside the box was a note it said "TRANSFORM, Two hours, A frame, Some materials, 10 people and 3 questions" we did not know what to do, so we just started making things out of the materials. Then we realised we was not making anything good out of the materials we were given and then decided to work as a group and make something together. We decided on making an alien with a background with lights in the background acting as a night sky.
We thought maybe we had to transform the materials into an object/ sculpture so that's what we all did, it was a great way for us all to get to know each other and to make some new friends. It also gave us a chance to see what ideas people came up with and also what there interests are. After the two hours were up our tutor came back in and found the whole thing funny as did we, for me the task did not go so well because i like to work by myself as an artist rather then be in a group because i find my ideas do not get put across as much. Hopefully next time we will all plan what to do and make before we start making things and a mess, all though i did not find the project a success i still found it interesting.
I found the first day of the foundation course really interesting because I got to know everyone more because of the Transform activity we did.
